The Honda Classic was the most exciting tournament of the PGA Tour season to date. Chris Kirk, who had not won a trophy on the PGA Tour for nearly 8 years, is back in the winner’s circle, defeating 34 year old TOUR rookie, Eric Cole in the 1st hole of a playoff.
In May 2019, Chris Kirk stepped away from golf. He was in a vicious battle with alcoholism, and knew he needed to make changes in his life. When he returned to the TOUR at the Mayakoba Golf Classic in November 2019, his rank had fallen even further – he was world No. 303.
“I owe everything that I have in my entire life to my sobriety,” Kirk told reporters at PGA National Resort.
